Established in 2009, the Hong Kong Museum of Education is a new thematic museum which acquires, conserves, researches and exhibits materials relating to the history and development of education in Hong Kong. Presenting themes such as the role and contribution of teaching to society, and the development of teacher education in Hong Kong, the Museum has a wide range of collections which include plaques, trophies, certificates, uniforms, teaching tools, textbooks, old photographs and historical documents.
The Museum provides a unique medium for teaching and learning which is educational as well as entertaining. In addition to serving as a resource for research and a venue for seminars, it aims to appeal to visitors at all levels, through a mix of exhibits and audio-visual presentations which document the history of education in Hong Kong in a vivid and accessible way.
